About Taylan Mavruk

Taylan Mavruk, Associate Professor of Finance, received his Ph.D. from School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg in 2010. He joined University of Gothenburg as a tenured faculty member in September 2011. Prior to his position, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Gothenburg (2010-2011). Taylan was Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at the Ross School of Business at University of Michigan where he was on the faculty between 2013 and 2014. He was Visiting Assistant Professor at the Swedish House of Finance at Stockholm School of Economics between 2016 and 2017.

Taylan’s research focuses on empirical portfolio choice, home bias, local bias, and insider trading. His current research examines rational and behavioral sources of local and birthplace biases. He also investigates mutual fund performance as well as economics of patents. His research has been published in, for instance, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of International Money and Finance, and the Columbia Business Law Review.

Taylan has been teaching in courses related to finance and statistics at undergraduate and graduate levels since 2006. He has also been supervising Ph.D students in the finance and accounting area.
